Assets
Our team of designers had a long list of assets, or cocoon critters, to make the environments feel as full and alive as possible.
Animated Assets
After creating the assets, our team of designers worked on animating the different assets. In order to be compatible with Unity, the animated assets were then turned into sprite sheets that the code could run. An example can be seen below!
Assets in place
Below is a look at what all 3 scenes looked like with each asset placed only once.
room layout
To work with projectors, we began planning out the layout of the room at a very early stage. We experimented with many different possibilities, including options where multiple users could experience Cocoon at a time.
Our original room layout ideas.
Finalized room layout sketch.
set design
Our goal for our set was to bring the idea of bedroom meets new environment to life. With bedroom staples like cozy blankets, ambient lighting, and cozy rugs, mixed with creatures of cocoon, purple lighting, and aspects of the project to make the user feel like the world of cocoon is creeping into their bedroom.
